Worship

Sunday Worship Services

Join us every Sunday at 10:30 a.m. in our classic New England sanctuary for worship services. Our services engage the mind, body, heart and spirit with beautiful music, spiritual themes, stories for all ages, and time for contemplation and prayer. Children begin in the sanctuary with their families and then are excused for faith development programs which run concurrently. Nursery care is available for the youngest, and babies and children are always welcome to remain in the service with their caregivers.

You can also join us live online, or view any of our past services on our YouTube channel.

During our service, we share prayers from our community. If you have a prayer you wish to share during our service, you can fill out the form below, or complete a prayer card in the sanctuary.

Navigating the Tides of the Spirit

We all have a spiritual life. Many come to church to deepen or expand that connection to wonder and meaning. We do it through personal practice, group worship, connections to others, and acts of service. Using the metaphor of a small boat at sea, we'll explore how we can enrich our spiritual lives through our church community. The Rev. Sarah C. Stewart preaching.
Service Music: We are very excited to have Tim Harrington singing his song "Blueberry Eyes" in our service this Sunday! Our Adult Choir will also be singing works by Nathaniel Dett and Margaret Bonds. And James and Allegra will be doing an organ-piano duet for the prelude.
Faith Development: This Sunday all our aged grouped classes begin: Spirit Play for Prek-1st graders, Soul Matters for 2nd-5th graders, and Crossing Paths for 6th-9th graders. Our Nursery is open and staffed for our toddlers and the Little Lights Corner for infants and their families is available in the Sanctuary. BYKOTA, our middle school youth group, is meeting from 9-10 AM, and YRU2, our high school youth group is cooking their dinner together at 5:30 PM. We are excited to see all our families again!

The Light in the Darkness

This week marks the third anniversary since the Hamas attack on Israel. Since 2023, Israel has responded with the destruction of Gaza and displacement of peaceful settlers in the West Bank. In our lament at this horror, we cling to our deepest values as a beacon to light our path forward. The Rev. Sarah C. Stewart preaching.

Shaping Tomorrow Together

On this Stewardship Sunday, we'll explore the nature of the First Unitarian Church community, and the different roles we play in it. It takes all of us sharing the joy and the responsibility of church life to create a living congregation. The Rev. Sarah C. Stewart preaching.

Consolation and Confidence

J. S. Bach had 20 children, 10 of whom died in early childhood. It is no wonder that he took comfort in his Christian faith, or so often set to music texts relating to death. Today we are lucky to benefit from advances in medicine that allow most American children to survive to adulthood. Relying on God's will today includes relying on natural science and human understanding. The Rev. Sarah C. Stewart preaching.
