Youth Faith Development Ministries
In addition to Sunday classes for 6th-8th grade youth, we offer two Youth Groups with many extra activities.
7th - 8th Grades – Building Bridges
Building Bridges is a world religions program to deepen youth's understanding of the dynamic, fascinating, and varied world in which they live. It seeks to broaden their knowledge of humanity and embolden their spiritual search. It is a series of workshops that attempts to lovingly and reverently examine some of the closest kept treasures of the human heart. This exploration nurtures participants' positive outlook toward other faiths and the people who follow them. This program provides youth a unique opportunity to engage the world's diversity of faiths in a safe, affirming atmosphere that is grounded in Unitarian Universalist faith. We hope to create an environment where respectful exploration and questioning are encouraged, where differences are encountered with open minds and hearts. This brand-new program, part of the UUA's "Tapestry of Faith" initiative, can be found online here.
BYKOTA – 6th-8th Grades
Our Junior High youth group meets once per month from 9 a.m-10:15 a.m. In their meetings, they check-in with one another and plan for a variety of social activities and service projects. BYKOTA meets in the “Bride’s Room” downstairs.
YRU2 – 9th-12th Grades
Our High School youth group meets each Sunday from 10 a.m. to 12 noon (except on the Sundays they are attending Worship together). The YRU2 program is based on a balance of worship, youth-adult relations, community building, social action, learning, and leadership. They also get together for outside events. YRU2 meets in the Youth Lounge.
