Youth Faith Development Ministries

In addition to Sunday classes for 6th-8th grade youth, we offer two Youth Groups with many extra activities.

Check out our Youth Ministries calendar for up to date information on what is happening this week.

 6th-7th Grades – Compass Points
This class leads its participants on a year-long spiritual journey during which they will have opportunities to sort out their feelings about themselves and their world, to discover what they believe about life’s big questions, and to learn enough background about Unitarian Universalist history, polity and theology that they can know and express what Unitarian Universalism stands for.  Students in 6th-7th grade begin each Sunday in the service with their families until 10:45 am.  Their class lasts until 11:45 am, at which time they are responsible for ringing the bell to signal the end of Children’s classes.  This class meets in the right classroom off the Unity Hall stage (Booth Classroom).

8th Grade – Coming of Age
As youth prepare to leave childhood, they are maturing physically, cognitively, emotionally, and spiritually. This maturation opens the door for a greater understanding of their faith.  Our Coming of Age program offers youth new ways to experience Unitarian Universalism. Through activities, relationship building, and involvement in the broader community, it will accompany youth on their journeys of spiritual awareness.  8th grade students begin each Sunday in the service with their families until 10:45 am. In order to give them a bit more time with their group, their class runs until 12 noon. This class meets in the Chapel.

 BYKOTA – 6th-8th Grades
Our Junior High youth group meets once per month from 9 am-10:15 am. In their meetings, they check-in with one another and plan for a variety of social activities and service projects. BYKOTA meets in the “Bride’s Room” downstairs.

 YRU2 – 9th-12th Grades
Our High School youth group meets each Sunday from 10 am to 12 noon (except on the Sundays they are attending Worship together). The YRU2 program is based on a balance of worship, youth-adult relations, community building, social action, learning, and leadership. They also get together for outside events. YRU2 meets in the Youth Lounge.
